Ath: Crowd boos delay Olympic Games men's 200 metres final

ATHENS, Aug 26 AFP - The final of the Olympic Games men's 200 metres was held up as
boos, jeers and chants from the majority of the 70,000 people in the stadium unsettled
the competitors.

Greek fans have been upset that national hero Costas Kenteris, who missed a drugs test
and then pulled out of the Games, wasn't taking part.

Kenteris was the defending champion.

The crowd cheered "Kenteris, Kenteris!" and "Hellas, Hellas!"

The drugs scandal, which also involved Greek women's sprinter Katerina Thanou, has
overshadowed the Athens Olympics ever since and split public opinion in Greece.

There was no Greek runner in tonight's race.
