NSW: Jury considers verdict in Ian Chalmers' cocaine smuggling trial

The jury in the trial if former Macquarie Bank executive IAN ROBERT CHALMERS has retired
to consider its verdict.

The District Court jury retired at about midday (AEST) today after hearing more than
a week's worth of evidence.

41 year old CHALMERS has pleaded not guilty to conspiring to import cocaine from South
America in 2005 .. as part of a drug syndicate that included baggage handlers at Sydney
airport.

The syndicate planned to fly the drugs from Argentina into Sydney Airport where they
would be intercepted by baggage handlers.
